How Long Does a 3D Render Take? Turnaround Time Benchmarks

Turnaround is the question that decides most rendering briefs. The brief is great, the budget is fine — but if you cannot have it by Tuesday, none of that matters. Here are the working benchmarks we quote, what affects them and how to compress them when the deadline is real.

Standard vs rush turnaround

ServiceStandardRush
Exterior render (per view)5–10 business days2–3 days (+30–50%)
Interior render (per view)5–10 business days2–3 days (+30–50%)
Walkthrough (per minute)10–15 business days5–7 days (+50%)
360° tour (4–6 scenes)7–12 business days3–5 days (+50%)

What actually affects timeline

  1. Scene complexity. Modernist white-box villa = fast. Baroque hotel lobby = slow.
  2. Number of views from the same model. First view eats 40–60% of the timeline (modeling and material setup). Each additional view is 1–2 days.
  3. Quality of input files. A clean Revit model with named layers is two days faster than a messy SketchUp dump.
  4. Reference availability. "Make it look like this hotel in Bali" is faster than "make it look modern".
  5. Communication speed. Same-day client feedback shaves 2–3 days off the cycle. Feedback that takes a week to come back stretches the cycle by exactly that week.

How to speed up your project

  • Send clean files. Layered, named, with units set correctly. Our CAD prep checklist covers this.
  • Send a clear brief upfront. Reference images, material samples, mood board, lighting time-of-day preference, target audience.
  • Consolidate feedback. One round of consolidated comments beats five rounds of dripped notes every time.
  • Empower one approver. Committee decisions are the slowest part of any render cycle.
  • Pay the rush fee. When the deadline is real, the 30–50% premium for 2–3 day turnaround is almost always worth it.

Our turnaround commitment

Every project we take on includes a written turnaround commitment as part of the quote. We hit it 95% of the time. The other 5% is usually scope drift mid-project — which we flag and reset rather than silently slip.
